Alaura Two-Tone Jar Candles Sold At Costco Recalled

Wellsville, New York – based Northern Lights Enterprises, Inc. is recalling about 139,500 units of Alaura Brand Two-Tone Jar Candles, citing laceration and fire risks, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The products, manufactured in the United States, were sold exclusively at Costco Wholesale Warehouses across the country and online at www.costco.com from August 2021 through September 2021 for about $17.

According to the agency, the recalled jar candles can shatter, crack or break apart while burning, posing laceration and fire hazards.

The recall was initiated after Northern Lights received 138 reports of the jar candles shattering, cracking or breaking apart, including three reports of laceration injuries.

The recalled Alaura Brand two-tone candles come in a decorative glass container with a metal lid. They come in two scents; Frosted Forest and Vanilla Biscotti.

Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the recalled candle and return it to any Costco Warehouse for a full refund.

In recent recalls, Target last week called back about 174,300 decorative mailboxes due to laceration hazard. PetSmart Home Office Inc. in early September recalled about 100,300 units of Top Paw Double Diner Dog Bowls for the same concerns.

Health experts urge air travelers to take precautions to avoid Omicron

(CNN Business)At least two major airlines in the United States have canceled flights just before Christmas Eve.

On Thursday, United Airlines (UAL) said it had to “cancel some flights” because of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
“The nationwide spike in Omicron cases this week has had a direct impact on our flight crews and the people who run our operation,” said a United memo obtained by CNN.

United has canceled more than 100 Friday flights, according to flight tracking site FlightAware.

United said it is “notifying impacted customers in advance of them coming to the airport,” according to a company statement. “We’re sorry for the disruption and are working hard to rebook as many people as possible and get them on their way for the holidays.”

Later Thursday night, Delta Air Lines (DAL) also canceled flights. The airline canceled 93 Christmas Eve flights, according to FlightAware. That’s 4% of its total schedule.
Delta said the cancellations are due to multiple issues including the Omicron variant.

        Reddit Files For IPO

Popular social media platform Reddit, is filing for an initial public offering. The company has kept the details of the filing a secret.

After the company was formed back in 2005, it was acquired by Conde Nast Publications in 2006. In 2011, the company became an independent subsidiary of the publication. In August this year, the company raised $700 million and reached a total valuation of $10 billion. Among the main investors are names like Fidelity Investments, Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia Capital, and Tencent Holdings.

The company had said during the fundraiser that the advertising revenue was 192% higher year-over-year in 2021 at $100 million.

The platform has been one of the more underrated competitors to the likes of Facebook or Twitter but in 2021, the “meme stock” period turned the fortunes for Reddit as more and more people started to sign up to keep an eye on AMC Entertainment (AMC) or GameStop Inc. (GME) stock. Now, as the platform itself is going public, the users are ready to boost Reddit’s stock as well.

Last year, the company had around 52 million DAU in around 100,000 sub-reddits. Earlier this year, the company has appointed Drew Vollero as the chief financial officer. Vollero was also the CFO of Snapchat (SNAP) when it first burst into the scene.

Chipotle Mexican Grill announced its first Chipotlane Digital Kitchen restaurant in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio to exclusively fulfill digital orders for pick up or delivery.

The new prototype offers a Chipotlane and walk-up window for efficient digital order pickup. It is equipped with a make line dedicated to digital orders placed through the Chipotle app and Chipotle.com, as well as marketplace partners. Guests and delivery drivers can collect their digital orders through the Chipotlane drive-thru or walk-up window.

The Chipotlane Digital Kitchen footprint is smaller than a traditional Chipotlane. There is no dining room access for guests or a front line in the new format, but it will offer patio seating for guests to enjoy their meals.

The new restaurant, located at 994 Graham Road in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, is scheduled to open later this month.

The Chipotlane format was launched in early 2018. According to the company, new restaurants featuring a Chipotlane open with around 15% higher sales than non-Chipotlanes opened during the same period.

Chipotle in August had said its first Chipotlane in Canada would open in Port Coquitlam, BC this fall.

Chipotle had nearly 2,900 restaurants as of September 30, 2021, in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France and Germany. The company has a long-term goal of having 6,000 locations in North America.
