Childish Gambino Settles Royalties Dispute With Glassnote Records
In a stipulation filed in the Southern District of New York on Friday, Donald Glover (a.k.a Childish Gambino) settled a dispute with his former record label, Glassnote Records.
“Donald Glover made a claim that he was owed 95% of SoundExchange royalties when we are legislatively and contractually required to share those royalties 50/45,” a Glassnote representative told Pitchfork last year following the issue of a formal court complaint.
Glover, who filed a counter-complaint, claimed that Glassnote had breached the licensing agreement by miscalculating payments.
During his six years with the label between 2011 and 2017, Glover produced three award-winning albums, including Awaken, My Love in 2016, which received nominations for Album of the Year and Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards.
