Chanel tones down pre-Oscars bash in wake of Karl Lagerfeld’s death
Fashion brand Chanel toned down its annual pre-Oscars party, sources told Page Six, in the wake of Karl Lagerfeld‘s passing. We hear that the traditional mariachi band that greeted guests upon arrival was canceled before the bash — thrown with UK branding guru Charles Finch.
The chic shindig changed venues this year from Madeo’s to the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge, and guests included Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, Margot Robbie, Kristen Stewart and Lupita Nyong’o. Many reminisced on the red carpet about late Lagerfeld, who died Feb. 19.
WWD reported that Amazon boss Jeff Bezos attended alone and, “eager to escape unnoticed by photographers for obvious reasons, slunk through to his table.” As we’ve reported, Bezos has hit numerous high-end pre-Oscars affairs without girlfriend, Lauren Sanchez, including parties hosted by Ron Perelman and Barry Diller.
Chanel had no comment.
