Celebrate the ‘Cruel Intentions’ 20th Anniversary By Seeing it Again in Theaters

Today is a special day as it’s the 20th anniversary of the theatrical release of the teen cult class Cruel Intentions!

The movie was released on March 5, 1999 and while it was only a modest hit at the box office, it has become one of the most beloved movies of the 1990s over the past two decades.

Cruel Intentions is coming back to theaters for one week only to celebrate the anniversary and the re-release opens on March 22.

Sarah Michelle Gellar took to Instagram to commemorate the special day. She wrote, “Wait…today 20 years?!? I literally just realized today is the actual anniversary. Well 20 years later I may be even more proud of this film. Not very often do you get to be a part of cinema, that holds the test of time. @rogerkumble you are the most wonderfully disturbed person I know and I love you. @reesewitherspoon @selmablair @ryanphillippe (and not pictured @seanpthomas @vancityjax) you are even better actors and better people then you were then. Forget me- everybody loves this film and I intend to keep it that way.”
