Embattled R&B star R. Kelly has asked the Illinois Cook County Circuit Court for permission to perform a series of concerts in Dubai.

Struggling to keep up with his various expenses of paying child support and legal fees, Kelly is desperate to make up for lost revenue as a result of the cancellation of two U.S tours and the removal of his music from digital streaming services due to alleged sex allegations against him.

“He cannot work, and consequently cannot make a living if he is confined to Illinois, or even the United States,” read a document filed with the court. “Mr. Kelly needs to generate income.”

The plea will be considered during a court hearing scheduled for Friday, March 22.
