Britain yet to schedule new vote on PM May's Brexit deal – parliament leader
LONDON, March 21 (Reuters) – The British government has yet to schedule another vote on Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit deal but will update lawmakers next week if it plans to do so, the leader of the lower chamber of parliament said on Thursday.
“This is a fluid situation … as soon as we have a response from the EU Council, I will be able to update the House as to when we can bring forward a meaningful vote and a debate next week,” Andrea Leadsom told lawmakers. “It is certainly the Prime Minister’s intention to do so.”
Leadsom added that the government would bring forward a statutory instrument next week to change the date of departure from the European Union if May struck a deal with EU leaders in Brussels this week to delay Brexit. (Reporting by Alistair Smout Editing by Giles Elgood)
