Yemen COVID-19: Fears cases and deaths are being underreported
The WHO believes many more people in Yemen are affected by coronavirus than official reporting shows.
Fears that the coronavirus outbreak in Yemen could be worse than thought are being compounded by claims that Houthi rebels are suppressing the real toll.
The UN and aid groups are also running out of money to help, with funding falling short of what is needed for basic aid in the country.

Trying to stay afloat: Dutch heritage vessels sail in protest
Dutch owners of historic sailing vessels set out to sea to protest the coronavirus pandemic’s effect on tourism.
In the Netherlands, a fleet of historical sailing ships is staging an unusual protest.
They want the government to do something to help them maintain their boats, which have found a new life as tourist vessels.
With the coronavirus pandemic and physical distancing measures making it impossible to achieve the volume they need, the owners fear they will lose their ships.

Biogen: New Results From NURTURE Study Reveals Sustained Benefit Of SPINRAZA
Biogen Inc. (BIIB) said the NURTURE study in pre-symptomatic patients with spinal muscular atrophy showed that early and sustained treatment with SPINRAZA for up to 4.8 years enabled unprecedented survival in infants genetically diagnosed with SMA. After up to 4.8 years of continuous treatment with SPINRAZA, all treated pre-symptomatically were alive, and none require permanent ventilation. Patients continued to maintain and make progressive gains in motor function.
NURTURE is an ongoing, phase 2, open-label study of 25 pre-symptomatic patients with the genetic diagnosis of SMA (most likely to develop SMA Type 1 or 2) who received their first dose of SPINRAZA before 6 weeks old. The study has been extended by an additional three years.
Gold Extends Gains For Third Day
Gold prices rose on Wednesday to extend gains for the third day running amid expectations that the U.S. Federal Reserve will deliver a dovish message for interest rates later in the day.
The Fed policy statement on the state of the economy is expected at 2 p.m. Eastern Time, followed by a press conference led by Fed Chair Jerome Powell.
Spot gold edged up 0.25 percent to $1,718.77 per ounce, after having risen over 1 percent in the previous session. U.S. gold futures were up 0.2 percent at $1,724.75.
The dollar fell against major currencies ahead of the FOMC decision. Markets expect the Fed to maintain a dovish stance to support the economy through the coronavirus crisis, but negative interest rates are very unlikely.
Policymakers will publish their first economic projections since the Covid-19 pandemic set off a recession in February.
Gold is also benefiting from concerns surrounding growth. Japan’s machinery orders slumped in April at their quickest pace in nearly two years, official data showed today.
China’s factory gate prices fell deeper into deflation in May, while French industrial production dropped 20.1 percent in April from March, when output was down 16.2 percent.
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) forecast the global economy would contract 6.0 percent this year before bouncing back with 5.2 percent growth in 2021.
Apple Plans To Replace Intel Chips With Own ARM-based Chips In Macs
Apple Inc. is preparing to replace chips from Intel Corp. in Mac computers with its own Arm-based main processors, Bloomberg reported citing people familiar with the matter. The new Macs without Intel processors could be rolled out in 2021.
The decision to make the shift is said to have been taken after Intel’s annual chip performance gains slowed and noting that sticking to Intel’s road map would delay or derail some future Macs.
Cupertino, California-based Apple is using technology licensed from Arm Ltd., which is affiliated to SoftBank Group, but it is different from the underlying technology in Intel chips.
As per the report, the new processors will be based on the same technology in Apple-designed iPhone and iPad chips. The company is said to be working on at least three of its own Mac processors, known as systems-on-a-chip.
In 2018 as well as earlier this year, Apple had hinted at its efforts to create own chips and move away from Intel.
Arm-based chips are already being used in the laptops of Microsoft, Samsung Electronics and Lenovo.
