Zizzi launch completely vegan four cheese pizza in high street first

If you thought Greggs’ vegan sausage roll was big, Zizzi have just launched the oxymoron of all menu items: a completely vegan four cheese pizza.

The high street’s first ever four vegan cheese pizza, Zizzi’s Quattro No Maggio is topped with four distinct flavours of rich and creamy dairy-free cheese.

Smoked vegan cheese, vegan cheddar cheese and even a vegan blue are all stacked on top of each other upon one of the brand’s fancy rustica bases, and then smothered in an indulgent vegan mozzarella dubbed ‘Mozzarisella’ – that even melts!

A best-selling rice based cheese alternative made from sprouted whole rice, Mozzarisella uses the finest organic ingredients that’s also rich in fibres and a range of amino acids.

Available nationwide from 8th Januar, you will be able to get it from selected restaurants from 2nd January. While the pizza will set you back a fairly pricey £12.50 a piece, as a special veganuary offer, Zizzi are offering customers two-for-one on all vegan mains at Zizzi this January – with the rustica vegan pizza included in the deal.

The announcement comes after Zizzi reported that vegan dishes accounted for a huge 7% of the Italian restaurant’s sales in 2018, and is sure to be welcome news to the thousands of Brits who are thought to be giving up cheese this month by participating in Veganuary.

Last year, a record 168,500 people officially took part in Veganuary, with the charity predicating the total number could be up to ten times this amount.

Kathryn Turner, Director of Food Development at Zizzi says: “Over the past year we’ve seen vegan dishes become more popular than ever and we’re anticipating that this January will be the biggest Veganuary yet.

Our vegan customers tell us it’s important that they have a wide choice and are not just ‘stuck’ with one option from the menu. We hope they’ll love our first four vegan cheese pizza and hope it will help first-time vegans get their cheese fix this month. We can’t wait to hear what our customers think.”

Simon Winch Veganuary CEO says: “Veganuary is creating a new wave of consumers and shoppers with both strong ethics and a big appetite! Right now, there is a real opportunity for brands, retailers and restaurants to improve, expand and promote their vegan and plant-based offerings to a wider audience.

We’re delighted that Zizzi is one of those companies that’s risen to this challenge – helping us to create the change we desire and provide the product to meet the consumer demand – we can’t wait to try the Quattro No-Maggio!”
