School uniform dresses being sold for just 89p in huge Marks & Spencer sale

Parents have spotted Marks & Spencer selling school uniform for less than £1 in its end-of-season sale.

The retail giant's 90% off clearance started in July, with huge reductions across homeware and back-to-school essentials. However, M&S told Mirror Money this is a separate sale campaign – which focuses on summer lines specifically.

On Facebook page Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, one mum, based in Leeds, said she managed to pick up a summer cotton dress for her daughter for just £1.39 – instead of the usual £14.

But items are selling out fast – with parents saying the back-to-school deals are mostly being picked up in stores only.

Speaking on school uniform bargains, another shopper wrote: "Stafford store had loads in today. All colours and sizes. Smaller ones were 99p".

One mum said she managed to find dresses even cheaper – at just 89p.

Customers added they've seen the deals in Norwich, Stafford, Scarborough and Hull branches, but items have already sold out in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire.

Mirror Money asked Marks & Spencer for some clarity on where these deals can be found and can confirm the school uniform deals are in stores only.

It added that while there's no official sale 'end' date, items are selling out incredibly fast.

One parent said she'd be stocking up for next year – but another used the sale to pick up more than 30 dresses to donate to Uganda.

"Thanks to whoever mentioned the Marks & Spencer 90 per cent sale," she wrote.

"Popped in this evening and got over 30 school dresses to send to our friends who work with children in Uganda.

"The postage will cost more but I'm sure the children will be thrilled to get something new."

The sale is available as long as stocks last, you can find out where your local Marks & Spencer store is, here .

If you miss out in stores, there are various offers on the retailer's website, including 40% off furniture and selected sofa ranges.

Anyone struggling with the cost of school uniform is advised to get in touch with their local council to see if they could get a one-off £150 support grant .

Other schemes include free school travel – which could save families hundreds of pounds on travel fares and petrol over the course of a year.
