Revealed: full list of M&S stores about to close with 1,045 jobs at risk

M&S has revealed exactly which stores will be shut of it in the next wave of it’s plan to "reshape" its UK store estate.

These plans are part of M&S’s accelerated plan to fix it’s business.

Overall, more than 100 stores will shut, including 30 that have already closed, 8 that have previously been announced and the 17 stores that are announced today as proposed for closure.

The firm said that the new closures will impact 1,045 jobs. Staff will now enter a period of consultation with the aim of retaining as many people as possible.

So far 1,891 jobs have been affected by the store closure programme with 1,591 being redeployed to other homes within the business.

Marks & Spencer retail director Sacha Berendji said “We’re continuing to transform M&S with pace and as part of this we are making good progress with our plans to close over 100 stores – radically reshaping our store estate to become more relevant for our customers.

"Proposing to close stores is never easy, for our colleagues, customers or the local community, but it is vital for the future of M&S.

"Where we have closed stores, we are continuing to see an encouraging number of customers choosing other nearby locations and shopping on M&S.com.”
