Last chance to bag £175 bonus just for switching bank account
You have until the end of next week (22 July) to bag a £175 bonus just for switching current account.
That's when HSBC are pulling its current deal, which is the most generous on the market.
Switching bank is a lot simpler than many people realise, too.
The Current Account Switching Service has moved more than 4 million people and offers a guarantee that all your direct debits and standing orders get shifted across automatically for you.
"It's easy, safe and takes just seven working days," Martin Lewis explained in the MoneysavingExpert.com newsletter wen the HSBC deal was launched.
"The new bank moves all direct debits and standing orders for you, while the old account will be closed and any payments to it forwarded for at least 3 years."
HSBC UK’s Fiona McCaffrey said: “If you’re heading on holiday soon, you can get some extra spending money just from sparing a few minutes to switch bank accounts."
The bank says the £175 will be paid into your new account within 30 days of it opening.
Not everyone will qualify though.
You can't have held an HSBC current account of any type since 1 January 2016, be over 18 and must apply using the Current Account Switching Service including a minimum of two Direct Debits and/or Standing Orders, within 30 days of the date of the account being opened.
Oh, and customers will need to pay in a minimum of £1,750 a month or £10,500 over 6 months. That works out as a salary of at least £26,000 a year.
It's not the only new offer though – with the standard HSBC bank account offering £75 up front to people able to pay in £500 a month, or £3,000 over six months.
And at to other end of the scale, HSBC is offering people who qualify for it's Premier bank account a luxury hotel stay worth £330 – if you earn £75,000 a year or more and have another qualifying HSBC product. Although you can also get one if you have £50,000 or more worth of savings or investments with the bank.
The HSBC offers about to be withdrawn on 22 July:
- Luxury Stay for opening the HSBC Premier Bank Account offering a one-night stay for two guests at a choice of 50 luxury hotels or a Family Getaway at a range of Merlin hotels, including Alton Towers, Thorpe Park and Legoland. (Valued at £330 on average)
- £175 in cash for opening the HSBC Advance Bank Account , paid into the account within 30 days of switching.
- £75 in cash for opening the HSBC Bank Account , paid into the account within 30 days of switching. To be eligible for this everyday account, customers need to pay in a minimum £500 per month (or £3,000 over 6 months).
