Insurance: Pay more if you see your own doctors
Unless you are prepared to pay more, the days of consulting private doctors who are not on your insurers’ panels for hospital treatment will soon be over for most people.
Instead of just making co-payment compulsory in new “riders”, which are add-on policies to the main private medical plans, the six major insurers – AIA, Aviva, AXA, Great Eastern, Income and Prudential – want customers to seek treatment with their accredited specialists or doctors at public hospitals.
