While going full vegan for an entire month isn’t for everyone, if there’s one thing in our lives we could cope with going vegan for, it’s our daily coffee.

So Costa Coffee have launched two new milk options – one of which is vegan – which are hitting stores today (Thursday 3 January).

The popular coffee shop chain will now also offer semi-skimmed Lactofree milk and almond drink as part of its milk options to help offer its customers more choice.

The two new variants join soya and coconut in the brand’s now seven milk strong line-up, with Costa being the very first high street coffee chain to offer customers the choice of Lactofree milk.

To celebrate the new offering, Costa have also launched a limited edition drink for January – the Vanilla Latte – which works well with the two new dietary offerings.

Sadly, just like Starbucks’ 40p additional cost, Costa Coffee will also charge extra for the new milk alternatives, with the lactofree, almond and coconut each setting you back an extra 50p on all core drinks.

If you want to skip the charge, pick up the new limited edition vanilla latte drink instead, which costs a solid £2.95 no matter which milk you have it with.

While Costa Coffee’s new Almond Drink offers a delicate almond taste and smooth creamy texture, the fresh Lactofree milk apparently provides a smooth finish with a subtle flavour that has been crafted to let the richness of the coffee come through.

Russell Braterman, Innovations Director at Costa Coffee said: “We know our customers want more choice when it comes to coffee customisation and have witnessed a growing demand for ‘free-from’ and vegan options.

Our seven-strong-range means we can now cater to our customers unique preferences, without compromising on the great taste they love.’’

In total there’s seven milk and milk alternatives options available at Costa Coffee right now, including whole milk, semi-skimmed milk, skimmed milk, soya, coconut, almond drink and Lactofree semi-skimmed milk.
