Aldi’s Giant ‘Ostrich’ Easter egg spotted on eBay for nearly double the price

Aldi has unveiled a new show-stopping giant egg for Easter this year and shoppers are already re-selling it on eBay for nearly double the price.

The Moser Roth Giant Ostrich Egg is made entirely of white chocolate blended with caramel sugar – and it’s huge.

Measuring a whopping 28cm long and 22cm wide – it’s even bigger than a real Ostrich egg. So only the really brave (or chocolate-mad) will try and devour the massive 800g sweet treat all in one go.

The massive egg, which costs £14.99, is so popular shoppers have been selling them for a profit on eBay.co.uk .

We’ve spotted them listed for sale at £25 – £10 more expensive than in stores – as customers anticipate high demand as we creep closer to Easter weekend.

But the giant egg, which is still available in stores while stocks last, is only one of the retailer’s extravagant new line of Easter treats for this year.

Aldi’s Specially Selected Exquisite Birdcage (£14.99), made entirely of milk chocolate, is another luxury treat with the wow factor.

The birdcage is made by the same chocolatiers who also create products for luxury store Fortnum & Masons. It is intricately decorated with a dark chocolate egg, sel de Guérande salted caramel flakes and Feuilletine pieces, all finished off with an edible metallic lustre.

But shoppers will have to wait until 28 March to get their hands on one.

The chain also previously announced it was also launching a rare Ruby cocoa bean chocolate treat in its Easter range too . The gem-shaped treat, which costs £12.99 for 360g of chocolate, will go on sale on 28 March.

Speaking about the launch, Julie Ashfield from Aldi UK said: “We are incredibly excited to be the first to launch a ruby cocoa bean chocolate egg in time for Easter".

However, Aldi isn’t the only supermarket pulling out all the stops this Easter with weird and wonderful creations.

Earlier this week Sainsbury’s announced it will be selling a Easter egg made entirely of cheese this year .

The £5 egg is slated to hit stores nationwide from 10 April – so savoury food lovers don’t want to miss out on the fun come Easter Sunday.
