Re “Sanders Shrugs Off Countless Falsehoods” (news article, April 20):
When asked during her special counsel interview about her lie to the public that the F.B.I. had “lost confidence” in its director and that “countless” F.B.I. agents told her repeatedly they were glad that President Trump fired James Comey, the White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, told investigators that it was a “slip of the tongue.” But that was a lie, too.
Defending herself on “Good Morning America” and back on the offensive, she claimed it was “in the heat of the moment.” Not true! If you watch the 2017 news conference in which she told that lie, you’ll see Ms. Sanders calmly reading a prepared statement from her podium. No slip of the tongue, no heat in that moment.
Lawrence O’Donnell, the host of the MSNBC show “The Last Word,” summed up Ms. Sanders’s special counsel interview best: “She lied about her lie to people who knew she was lying.” Ms. Sanders should resign.
