To the Editor:
An April 12 letter commented that because the United States, and now Israel, have elected leaders not to the writer’s liking, he is not “proud of” either country any longer. But I, for one, am proud that the United States and Israel do not put duct tape over the mouths of their diverse and very outspoken populations, who can disagree, ridicule, insult or praise their elected leaders, as the case may be.
This without fear of being silenced, arrested or incarcerated — unlike most of the Middle East and, yes, the world.
