The Saskatoon Blades put a microphone on a Timbits player to hear about his playing experience in a scrimmage during an intermission of a Western Hockey League (WHL) game on Friday, March 1.

The Blades then released a video of Kiefer Girard, 7, and put it on their social media channels.

Being mic’d up, he was nervous before hitting the ice in front of 3,445 fans at SaskTel Centre, but Girard’s mother Trisha reassured him everything would be OK.

During his play, Girard demonstrated a determination to acquire the puck, and even the ability to sing while skating.

It’s the second year in the Timbit Initiation Hockey Program for Girard, who plays with the Martensville Ducks.

Saskatoon blanked the Regina Pats 4-0 in the WHL game last Friday.
