A woman is believed to have been shot in the neck as supporters of Donald Trump storm the US capitol.

Joe Biden’s certification as the next President of the United States has been halted as demonstrators barged into the building.

Reports of the shooting came as Senate majority leader Mitch Mcconnell told Fox News shots had been fired. NBC reported that one person was shot by a member of law enforcement.

Video footage shared on social media shows the victim close up on the floor of the building. The person who shared it wrote: ‘A young woman was just shot in the neck right besides me in the Capitol Building.’
