Chilling footage has captured the moment a young woman fought off an attacker trying to abduct her in broad daylight.

The unidentified woman screamed for her life after a man violently grabbed her from behind as she walked along a street in North Philadelphia on Sunday morning.

The altercation was captured on a Ring security camera, which showed the girl cry for help while desperately trying to fight off the suspect.

He is then seen to let go and walks away as the woman appears to say "he was just trying to abduct me".

Despite the woman's screams for help, nobody appeared to come to her aid.

A man who did not wish to be named, heard the woman's cries from inside his home and checked the camera at the front of his property after the incident.

"I looked at that video. He was definitely trying to take her" he said, reports 6abc.

He added: "I have daughters, so I hope they catch him because that's not cool. Trying to snatch up young girls out there."

Kate Gonsalves, who lives nearby said she was appalled that the woman's echoing screams appeared to go unheard.

She applauded her quick-thinking, saying "I think she did everything right".
