A woman from Florida pulled an alligator from her yoga leggings after police stopped the car she was travelling in.

Ariel Machan-Le Quire, 25, was with Michael Clemons, 22, when he was pulled over after driving past a stop sign in Charlotte County, Florida.

The pair told officers they were collecting frogs and snakes from under an overpass, and Mr Clemons allowed police to search his pickup truck.

The officers found 41 three-stripe turtles in the car, which were reported to have all been inside Ms Machan-Le Quire’s backpack.

When she was asked if she had anything else, she produced a 1ft (0.3m) alligator out of her leggings.

Charlotte County Sheriff officials tweeted: “Not to be outdone by #Floridaman, a #FloridaWoman pulled this alligator out of her pants this morning during traffic stop after being asked the standard ‘Do you have anything else?’.”

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission took over the investigation.
