Woman ‘completely humiliated’ after being ‘banned’ from flight over outfit

A woman was "completely humiliated" after she was almost denied boarded a flight because of her outfit.

Andrea Worldwide was stopped by a male employee just as she was about to board the United Airlines plane from Denver, Colorado to Newark, New York.

Staff eventually told Andrea the issue was her top, which was low cut and through which part of her bralet was visible.

But photos show Andrea was also wearing a long cardigan and a scarf over the top.

She said: “I’m completely humiliated, embarrassed, confused. I feel like all eyes are on me.”

The woman added she was dressed for comfort for the four-hour flight, the first leg of her journey to see her long-distance boyfriend in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Eventually the gate staff changed their minds and let Andrea, a United Airlines platinum member, onto the plane on January 13.

They even offered her a travel voucher as recompense.

But Andrea declined this offer.

"Two hundred dollars doesn’t even compare to the humiliation that I faced.

"If another female has to face this, I’d rather get the word out and maybe they’ll choose a different airline," she continued.

United Airlines is now in contact with Andrea to deal with her complaint, reports CBS4 .

A spokesman said: “At United, our goal is for our customers to feel welcome and have a comfortable journey.

"We are reaching out to our customer to better understand what happened.”

The airline currently has a dress code policy for employees or those travelling as friends and family of staff members, but for normal passengers there are few restrictions.
