Donald Trump has branded attempts to impeach him as a ‘witch hunt’ and a ‘tremendous danger to our country’.

Speaking for the first time since Wednesday’s violence at the US Capitol, the President has said it’s ‘absolutely ridiculous’ that the Democrats are trying to impeach him for a second time.

Trump said: ‘On the impeachment, it’s really a continuation of the greatest witch hunt in the history of politics. It’s ridiculous, it’s absolutely ridiculous.

This impeachment is causing tremendous anger, and you’re doing it and it’s really a terrible thing that they’re doing.’
