A teacher cut off a chunk of a girl's hair when she wouldn't stop playing with it in class, the pupil's mother said.

Mum Jillian Miglionico, whose daughter attends middle school for 11-13 year olds, has slammed male teacher's alleged actions.

The furious mum said he resorted to cutting off a three inch chunk of hair after repeatedly asking the youngster to stop twiddling it in her hands.

Jillian said the teacher, from Somersworth Middle School in New Hampshire, America, "shouldn't be around" students.

Speaking about the alleged incident, the mum said: "She didn't stop [playing with her hair] and he threatened her and said, 'well if you don't stop playing with your hair, I'm going to cut it off.

"And she was like, 'no you can't do that' and he said, 'oh yeah? Watch me'.

"He then grabbed her hair and cut off a good three-inch chunk."

She added: "If you're going to act like that with a middle school student, I don't think that you should be able to be around and teach middle school students.

"I don't want this man around my child."

Superintendent of the Somersworth and Rollinsford School Districts, Robert Gadomski, said the district was aware and is monitoring the situation, reports CNN .
