School ‘tells grandma to cut 4-year-old boy’s long hair or put him in a dress’

A grandmother claims her four-year-old grandson's school told her to 'cut his hair or put a dress on him'.

Randi Woodley, who has legal custody of Michael, claims she was called in by the school in August to discuss the boy's hair style.

When she talked to the principal in Texas, "they explained to me that my grandson's hair was too long", US news outlet KETK reports.

She was reportedly told it was a "distraction" and needed to be cut or braided, a 6,200-strong Change.org petition to have the "unjust" rules changed explains.

"The superintendent then gave me three options," the grandma told KETK.

"He told me that I could either cut it, braid it and pin it up, or put my grandson in a dress and send him to school, and when prompted, my grandson must say he's a girl."

The school district's online dress code states that "no ponytails, ducktails, rat-tails, male bun or puffballs shall be allowed on male students.

"All male hair of any type shall not extend below the top of a t-shirt collar, as it lays naturally.”
