Pictured: Woman 'who walked up to stranger on train and punched her toddler son'
A woman who ‘repeatedly punched’ a two-year-old toddler on the New York subway is wanted by police for assault.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) has released photos of the suspect who is believed to be responsible for attacking the defenseless two-year-old.
She’s accused of violently punching the boy as he was sat on his mother’s lap in a subway car in East Harlem, on February 20.
Police have said the northbound train was entering the 116th Street subway station when the woman struck the toddler in the face multiple times, reports the New York Post.
The suspect is understood to have been begging passengers for money on the subway car when she approached the mother. The boy’s mom told her she was too close and to stay six feet away, but the woman allegedly got closer to the mother and then punched the boy.
The toddler suffered red marks to the face and was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment.
The NYPD has released photos of the suspect wearing a white face mask, a beige baseball cap, a plaid shirt, a black coat, and jeans. The images are taken from surveillance cameras.
Anyone with information in regard to the identity of this individual is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
