Peeping Tom shot three times by dad who found him outside daughter's room

A man was shot three times by a father who found him looking through his daughter’s bedroom window.

The peeping Tom was chased by the girl’s angry parents after allegedly being caught staring through the window in Houston, Texas, at around 2.30am on Monday morning.

After noticing the man in the window the girl screamed, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, and after being woken up by the noise, her parents appeared at her side with handguns.

The suspect tried to escape, investigators said, and when he tried to take the mother’s gun, the girl’s father shot him three times in a gas station parking lot.

The injured man was taken to a local hospital in serious condition where he currently remains and no other injuries were reported.

Police say that both parents were licensed gun owners and no arrests have been made yet in the case, reports the Houston Chronicle.

Under Texas state law it is legal for homeowners to use use force to stop a threat, to prevent trespass on property and to prevent someone from committing a crime on owned property.

There are however only two situations when the use of deadly force in defense of property are legally allowed. The two circumstances where deadly force may be used are; to prevent dangerous criminal behavior; or to prevent a criminal from escaping.
