NAFTA talks resume amid fears of US withdrawal
Negotiations are taking place as the US puts pressure on Canada and Mexico to alter the trade pact in favour of American interests.
Negotiators from the US, Canada and Mexico are in Montreal for the latest round of talks on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
US President Donald Trump has been a frequent critic of NAFTA, saying he is prepared to withdraw the US’ membership if the negotiations do not produce more favourable terms, a move some fear would be an economic disaster.
