Mum’s adorable back to school tradition with son leaves parents welling up

A mum's adorable back to school tradition with her young son is leaving parents welling up with tears.

Carina Cansino, from Dallas, Texas, has shared several snaps of her "genius" idea, which she has done with little Gus since he was four years old.

And it has been hailed "epic" and inspired many other mums and dads to do the sweet gesture too.

Explaining her idea on Twitter , Carina said that on the first day of every school year she takes a photo of the youngster, who is now five, wearing what is currently an over-sized white t-shirt.

On the front it says Class of 2032, which is when the youngster will finish his studies and graduate from high school.

On the back is his name in which he puts a hand print under what school year he is about to start.

But what makes it so heartwarming is that the t-shirt currently swamps Gus, however by the time he is in 12th grade in 2032, it will be the right size.

And although Carina is in no rush for her little man to grow up, the thought of him wearing the completed t-shirt on his graduation day in 13 years time is a milestone she will cherish.

Proud mum Carina tweeted pictures of a beaming Gus with his arms stretched out almost dwarfed by the t-shirt which is touching the floor as it's so long.

This is Gus’s second year wearing the shirt as he started pre-kindergarten last year.

Carina, who had Gus when she was 15 and was a single mum for many years, said: "The concept is that every year on the first day we take a picture of him in it and by his senior year he will fit in the shirt and we’ll get to go through every school year photo and watch his growth."

She added to Insider: "I wanted something that my son and I could enjoy not just now, but when he becomes an adult.

"I'm a sucker for keepsakes and sentimental valuables, so I know this would be perfect.

"I know one day we'll both look back at all the photos and cherish all the great memories. It's the best part of being a mom."

The sweet idea has been praised on social media, with one saying: "I'm following cause I wanna see this kid grow and fit the shirt, and also hit 11th grade. This is actually epic."

Another said: "I’ve never wanted to see someone grow so bad."

A third replied: "This is the cutest thing I have ever seen and I can't wait to do this with my kids."
