Mum refuses to cooperate with police after daughter, 5, vanishes from bedroom

A young girl who was reported missing this week may actually have disappeared several months ago.

Brianna Williams told police that the last time she saw her daughter Taylor Rose Williams was on Wednesday night when she put the five-year-old to bed.

When Ms Williams woke at 7am the next day her daughter was nowhere to be found in the house in Jacksonville, Florida, the mum claimed.

The petty naval officer called the Florida Department of Law Enforcement where officers issued an amber alert later that morning.

Since the search began, three separate sources have contacted local news station WSBTV to say that it has actually been weeks since Taylor was last seen.

The claims have thrown the case into a new light, with police saying that all avenues of investigations are open to them as they search for the girl.

In a press conference on Thursday, Sheriff Mike Williams said that while Ms Williams had stopped cooperating with the force, she was not a suspect.

"She has since chosen to stop cooperating with us, but here's what we know: Brianna was the last person to see Taylor alive," he said according to WSBTV .

"Nothing’s off the table. We wont take the steps to say she’s a suspect. We know her daughter is missing and she was the last person to see her. We know she didn’t walk away."

In the days since the missing person report was made investigators have been trying to work out when Taylor was last seen publicly.

She had been enrolled in a daycare centre at the naval base where her mother worked, but she has not been spotted there since the spring.

When asked by a reporter whether Taylor had been seen since March, Sheriff Williams refused to comment.

The same response was offered to requests for previous reported cases of child abuse or neglect that may have been filed against Ms Williams.

In a bid to assist the emergency services in their search, some concerned civilians took the day off work to hit the streets.

In their number was Latasha Hobbs, whose own child was shot to death.

Those searching have knocked on the doors of hundreds of properties, while checking nearby bodies of water, bins and vehicles.

Taylor was last seen wearing a purple shirt and pink pajama bottoms.

Authorities describe her as being three-feet tall, weighing 50 pounds and having brown eyes and black hair
