Mum in agony after botched £35 pedicure at salon leaves her toe infected
A mum lost half her toenail after a botched £35 pedicure triggered a painful infection.
Kris Hoff, 50, wanted to treat herself to the procedure at a nail salon last month but saw her left foot had become red and inflamed afterwards.
The mum-of-three, of Onalaska, Wisconsin, tried to treat her injuries herself at home, but was unable to stop the pain.
"When I realised that I couldn't sort this myself I was advised by a doctor to get to urgent care as soon as possible to help stop the pain," Kris, a dog groomer, said.
"Because the pain was so bad, I begged to see a pediatrician as I needed a specialist to sort this.
"Alongside a procedure to cut out the pieces of nail that were causing the extreme pain and infection, I was also put on an antibiotic which I took twice a day for a week, alongside having to soak the toe three times a day and bandage it up.
"My foot is still infected now, over one month on, and I am skeptical about going to get another pedicure in the future in case this happens again."
Doctors put Kris on antibiotics and she's now recovering.
But the mother is now scared to have another pedicure in the future.
The treatment on October 11 in Onalaska left Kris' big toe inflamed.
A beautician from south Wales left a mum "with Angry Birds eyebrows" recently , after an alleged botched procedure.
Colline Rees, 37, said: "I was mortified, absolutely horrified.
"I said to the girl 'Are you kidding me, is this a joke?'
"If someone else looked like that, you'd do a double take."
