A Chick-fil-A employee is being hailed as a hero after he tackled a man who was attempting to carjack a woman in the restaurant’s parking lot.

A woman in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, was accosted by a man wielding a stick as she was taking her infant out of her car.

The man, identified by authorities as William Branch, demanded the woman’s keys.

‘He then grabbed the keys from the waistband of her pants, opened her car door, and got inside,’ the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said.

A Chick-fil-A employee, identified by the restaurant’s operator as Mykel Gordon, ran to her aid when she began yelling for help. He punched her assailant and pulled him out of the car.

A bystander caught most of the fight on camera. After pulling Branch out of the car, Gordon, wearing a red shirt and a neon yellow safety vest, can be seen tackling the would-be carjacker.

The two struggle on the ground for a few more seconds before more restaurant employees rush the scene to help.

After Branch seems to give up, another woman holding a baby approaches the scene.

‘She had a baby in her hands! How dare you!’ she yells at the suspect.

Branch, 43, was arrested and charged with carjacking with a weapon and battery, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies will also review the video provided by the bystander, the office said.

According to the Chick-fil-A employees, Branch had been involved in another incident just before the attack.

The sheriff’s office praised Gordon, calling him a ‘selfless individual’.

‘A major shout-out to this young man for his courage!’ the office said.

Gordon’s employer, Matthew Sexton, identified him as a ‘hero’.

‘At Chick-fil-A our mission is to “Serve” and today Mykel took it further……to “Save,”’ the restaurant wrote on Facebook.
