A delighted-looking Melania Trump was filmed grinning from ear-to-ear at a children’s event 36 days before her husband Donald’s White House exit.

The First Lady of the United States looked as happy as she has ever been seen in public as she prepared to read a story at the Children’s National Hospital in Washington DC on Tuesday.

Mrs Trump has always appeared to enjoy attending official events that gave her the chance to meet children. And some White House watchers have speculated that the notoriously private first lady is also thrilled by the prospect of her husband’s time in office coming to an end.

Mrs Trump told children who attended Tuesday’s event: ‘It is wonderful to be here. This is one of my favorite events during holiday time. I’m very excited and looking forward to reading a book.’
