Melania 'counting the minutes until she can divorce' Donald Trump
Donald Trump may have only just lost the election but he could be in danger of losing his wife as well, according to Melania Trump’s former aides.
Ex-aide Stephanie Wolkoff said the First Lady has been negotiating a post-nuptial agreement to ensure the couple’s son, Barron, would get an equal share of Trump’s fortune, according to the Mail on Sunday.
She has also alleged that the current president and his wife, who have been married for 15 years, had separate bedrooms in the White House and described their relationship as a ‘transactional marriage’.
Another former aide, Omarosa Manigault Newman, told the paper: ‘Melania is counting every minute until he is out of office and she can divorce.
‘If Melania were to try to pull the ultimate humiliation and leave while he’s in office, he would find a way to punish her.’
Mrs Trump, 50, reportedly burst into tears in ‘despair’ when her husband, 74, won the presidential election in 2016, according to the New York Magazine.
Her friend allegedly said ‘she never expected him to win’ and that Mrs Trump ‘didn’t want this come hell or high water’.
Critics have speculated over the reasons why Mrs Trump took five months to leave New York and move into the White House with the president.
But she has repeatedly said that it was because she wanted their son to ‘finish school’ first.
There have been several public moments when Mrs Trump has appeared to bat off her husband’s affections, by pulling her hand away from his and struggling to smile for cameras despite the president’s encouragement.
When asked several times in interviews about their relationship, both have said they have ‘a great relationship’, with Mr Trump insisting the couple never argue.
Trump’s second wife, Marla Maples, is not allowed to publish any book or give any bad interviews about him because of a pre-nup, according to reports.
It has been widely speculated that the First Lady could have made a similar agreement.
