Meghan and Harry discuss Covid with US ambassador to the United Nations

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle continued their first major public appearance since quitting the royal family in New York by meeting the US ambassador to the United Nations.

The Sussexes met Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield on Thursday afternoon at 50 UN Plaza in midtown Manhattan and had an ‘important discussion’ on the coronavirus, the Daily Mail reported. They also discussed racial justice and mental health issues.

Thomas-Greenfield called the meeting with the pair ‘wonderful’ and tweeted several photos of them speaking in a lounge and posing by the UN Mission.

The Sussexes left the $1,300-per-night Carlyle Hotel around 1pm on Thursday in a black SUV. While their itinerary was kept highly secret, the couple were believed to be heading to 50 UN Plaza.

Meghan and Harry’s visit to New York is their first public appearance since their daughter Lilibet’s birth in June.

On Thursday morning, the Sussexes visited the 9/11 memorial and One World Trade Center in lower Manhattan. Meghan wore all black for the visit to 9/11 site and donned a long beige coat sunglasses in the afternoon.

‘It’s wonderful to be back’ in New York, Meghan during her visit to the top of One World Trade Center.

The Sussexes also met with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and his family, and New York Governor Kathy Hochul.

Their two children, Archie and Lilibet, stayed at their home in California.

Meghan and Harry are scheduled to attend the Global Citizen Live concert being held on Saturday to encourage coronavirus vaccine equity.
