McDonald’s worker tried to drown baby in toilet after going into labour at work

A McDonald’s worker gave birth in a restaurant toilet before trying to drown the newborn child.

Thankfully Sarah Jane Lockner, from San Francisco, was found by a colleague before she could kill the infant.

Lockner, 27, told a court it was the second time she had given birth without realising she was pregnant.

She was charged but a judge has just taken pity on her and decided against a prison sentence in California.

The San Francisco Gate said Lockner was placed on four years supervised probation and one year in county jail with credit for time served.

She was also ordered to complete parenting classes.

Lockner took a plea deal in January, the paper reports, after prosecutors initially charged her with attempted murder.

She instead pleaded no contest to felony child endangerment.

The court heard Lockner was employed as a cashier at a McDonald's in Redwood City and working her shift when, on September 4, 2017, she went to the toilets multiple times and complained of stomach pains.

The judge was told when co-workers noticed Lockner trailing blood, she said it was because of a heavy period.

One of those co-workers later went to check on Lockner in the cubicle and looked over the stall, where she allegedly saw a newborn baby face down in the toilet bowl and Lockner's hand on the child's back, prosecutors said.

The co-worker called police who arrived to find a baby boy that had no pulse and was not breathing, the county district attorney's office said.

Incredibly, the fast actions of the worker meant the boy survived and is currently living with his father's aunt and has met his milestones, the Mercury News reported.

Prosecutors said Lockner gave birth to another child at home five years earlier. Lockner reportedly said she did not know she was pregnant before either of her two births.
