Man ‘left handprint on boy’s face after slapping him for bullying stepdaughter’
A man has been arrested for slapping a 12-year-old boy in the face who he claimed was bullying his stepdaughter, according to reports.
James Peace, 37, of La Porte, Texas, is accused of shouting at the boy before striking him with an open palm on the side of his face.
The boy was left with a large red handprint on the left side of his face that was swollen, it is alleged.
Peace alleges that the boy’s teasing and name calling caused his stepdaughter ‘serious psychological harm’.
Her mum alleges the boy’s bullying involved ‘saying that her body was ugly, that she was a transvestite, started throwing ice cream at her and then they picked up the rocks,’ according to reports.
The alleged attack happened after the man collected his stepdaughter from school on Thursday and spotted the boy, ABC 15 reports.
According to reports, after the alleged incident, Peace got back into his car and drove off.
The following day, the child told his teacher what had happened, it is reported.
He claimed his fellow classmate had been in the car during the alleged attack.
The teacher informed the boy’s mum and police, who began investigating.
Peace first denied slapping the boy to police but after he was told a CCTV camera had caught the incident he admitted it, according to reports.
He reportedly said he "let his emotions get the better of him."
The stepdaughter said she’d seen the slap but didn’t think it was ‘that hard,’ reports said.
Peace now faces a charge of injury to a child.
