A gunman killed one person and injured at least 15 others before being shot dead by a security guard outside a bar in Kansas City, Missouri.

The incident happened shortly before midnight on Sunday. Police said officers found “a chaotic scene”.

The body of a woman was found in the car park next to the venue.

According to reports the suspect opened fire on a queue of people waiting to enter a bar before being shot by an armed security guard.

Police have confirmed at least 15 have been treated at local hospitals and at least three of those are in a critical condition.

The shooting took place outside the 9ine Ultra Lounge.

A Facebook post on the club’s page advertised Sunday night’s “Sold Out Sundays” event, which appeared to be a celebration of the Kansas City Chiefs who beat the Tennessee Titans on Sunday to advance to the Super Bowl.
