Jeff Bezos launches investigation into leaked text messages to ‘mistress’
The world’s richest man has launched an investigation into how sex texts sent to his ‘mistress’ ended up in a magazine, according to reports.
According to a report in The Daily Beast , the finger of blame for the leak of Amazon boss Jeff Bezos’ messages could be pointed at allies of US President Donald Trump.
The tycoon’s personal security team is trying to find out how intimate messages sent to Lauren Sanchez were passed to The National Enquirer.
The magazine spent months shadowing the couple before breaking the news of their liaison earlier this month.
It alleged that 54-year-old Bezos – said to be worth £125billion – sent the former So You Think You Can Dance presenter erotic selfies “too explicit to print” and whisked her off on holidays in his £51million jet.
The revelation came shortly after Bezos announced he and wife MacKenzie were getting divorced after 25 years together.
He denies getting involved with Sanchez behind his wife’s back, saying the romance blossomed after they had split.
The magazine said that he also sent her an ‘unsparing’ picture of his genitals, as well as shirtless pictures.
Experts have examined Bezos’ phone and found no evidence that it was hacked.
In one message the Amazon chief wrote: "I want to smell you, I want to breathe you in. I want to hold you tight."
The Daily Beast reports that there is no evidence that news anchor Sanchez was involved in the leak.
Some in Bezos’ circle believe it may have been politically motivated, with the relationship between the businessman and Donald Trump increasingly fractured.
The Amazon owner also owns newspaper The Washington Post, which Trump continually takes issue with.
It is claimed that investigators are looking into allies of the US President to see if any of them could have been behind it.
