Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts' killer sentenced to life in prison
The man convicted of murdering Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts in 2018 has been sentenced to life in prison. Cristhian Bahena Rivera, 27, appeared stoic on Monday as Judge Joel Yates sentenced him to a ‘lifetime sentence with no eligibility of parole’.
‘You, and you alone, forever changed the lives of those who loved Mollie Tibbetts,’ Yates said.
‘And for that, you and you alone will receive the following sentence.’
Rivera, a farmhand and undocumented immigrant, was convicted on May 28 of first-degree murder in the death of Tibbetts, a 20-year-old University of Iowa student.
