A female Nasa astronaut has been branded as “controlling” and “not the person I married” by her estranged wife.

Anne McClain (40) tipped to become the first woman on the Moon, was accused last week of improperly accessing a bank account she shared with Summer Worden.

The incident happened while Ms McClain was serving on the International Space Station, and could potentially be the first crime ever committed in orbit. She has vehemently denied any wrongdoing.

Ms Worden, a former US Air Force intelligence officer, says she was “frightened” Ms McClain was going to take away her six-year-old son Briggs, born a year before the couple met, in a custody battle.

She said: “I want Anne to take the pressure off and drop the case and be a nice person.”

A divorce hearing is scheduled for next month in Houston, Texas.
