Hunter Biden: US president’s son opens up about addiction and reveals he ‘probably smoked more parmesan cheese than anyone you know’

Hunter Biden has told of his battles with drug addiction, revealing he “probably smoked more parmesan cheese than anyone you know”.

The 51-year-old son of US president Joe Biden was speaking to CBS Sunday Morning ahead of the release of his new memoir, Beautiful Things.

“I spent more times on my hands and knees picking through rugs smoking anything that even remotely resembled crack cocaine,” he said.

“I probably smoked more parmesan cheese than anyone you know.

“I went one time for 13 days without sleeping and smoking crack and drinking vodka throughout that entire time.”

Hunter revealed in 2014 his struggle with drug addiction after he was discharged from the naval reserve due to a positive test for cocaine.

In the TV interview, he told how his father still contacts him every day to talk to him.

“By the way, not only does he talk to me every night – he calls every one of my daughters and he talks to each one of them every day,” he said. “And I know that he talks to my sister.”

“He’s always done that,” he added. “Because he lost – because he, like me, knows what it’s like not to be able to pick up the phone and talk to your son.”

After binge-drinking vodka following the death of brother Beau Biden in 2015, Hunter said his father – who was then the vice president – “figured out a way” to visit him at his home.

“He came to my apartment,” he said. “And this was when he was still in office as vice president and so he kinda ditched his Secret Service, figured out a way to get over to the house.

“And I said, ‘what are you doing here?’ I said, ‘Dad, I’m fine.’ He said, ‘you’re not fine’.”

Hunter also told CBS correspondent Tracy Smith he was “100%” certain he will be “cleared of any wrongdoing” in a Department of Justice investigation into his taxes.
