Giant rat ‘plunges from restaurant ceiling and lands on horrified woman’s table’
A woman was left horrified after a giant rat allegedly plunged to its death from a chicken wing restaurant's ceiling and landed on the table in front of her.
After falling several feet, the rodent lay dead on top of a menu as Alisha Norman was deciding what to order while watching a Women's World Cup football match on TV at Buffalo Wild Wings.
The science teacher claims the rat was alive when it fell at one of the chain's restaurants in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon, and she heard it hurtling towards her.
Ms Norman, 42, posted photos of the dead rat on Facebook , writing: "So what do you do when a rat falls from the ceiling onto your table… really LA? I was just trying to watch the soccer game."
The customer, who was on holiday from Houston, Texas, ahead of her 43rd birthday this weekend, said the manager told her that construction was to blame for the rat's fall.
She told NBC News: "I knew the rat was going to be injured because it hit like a Mack truck."
She added: "You could hear something come down."
Ms Norman, who was at the restaurant to watch the US take on Sweden in a Women's World Cup group stage match, said she called for help from staff and a manager came over holding two plates in his hands.
She added: "He took two plates and then they just picked it up and dumped it in a bag.
"It was terrible. It was disgusting."
Ms Norman said the restaurant gave her a free meal to compensate her for the bizarre incident.
After she posted the photos of the dead rat on Facebook, Ms Norman was inundated with comments from shocked friends.
When one questioned whether the incident really happened, she responded: "It’s very real."
Another friend asked her why she hadn't left immediately, with Ms Norman replying: "lmao… well I’m a science teacher and went to nursing school I’ve seen worse…
"But I got to see how they handle this bill."
She also wrote: "I’m fine but it was gross."
One friend wrote after seeing the images: "OMG!!! I'm freaking just seeing pictures!!!!"
Mirror Online has contacted Buffalo Wild Wings for comment.
