#FreeWideneck: Convict whose 'wideneck' mugshot went viral is back behind bars

A convict whose mugshot went viral online because of his unusually large neck is back behind bars.

Charles ‘Wideneck’ Dion McDowell hit headlines last year after Florida police tweeted his mugshot.

Now he’s back in jail for the third time in just over two months, the New York Post reports.

The 31-year-old created an Instagram account after his sudden internet stardom and has since gained 1.3m followers.

Escambia County court records report that he was returned to jail on Tuesday after a Pensacola judge revoked his bail for a November arrest when he was caught with meth and cocaine on him.

He is due to remain in jail for three weeks until his next court appearance.

MANAGEMENT – Tonight, Charles AKA Wideneck was arrested in his hometown of Pensacola. He didn’t get arrested on any new charges, the judge revoked his bond from his original charges. Now he has to sit in jail until his case is over with. He appreciates all the love and support from everyone in the past 2 months. Charles’ life has changed for the better for himself and his family. He’ll now be forced to sit behind bars at least until his next court date on Feb. 21.

A friend who wrote on his Instagram said this will be the last time he will be behind bars.

The post read; “Charles’ life has changed for the better for himself and his family. When all this is over with this last case, you have his word that he’ll never go back to jail again! #freewideneck.”
