Family of 12 siblings have record-breaking combined age of 1042

A family of 12 siblings have been named record-breakers because of their combined age of 1042 years and 315 days. Doreen Lewis, 97, and her 11 younger brothers and sisters were officially named the world’s oldest family by Guinness World Records earlier this month.

Guinness World Records say the brood has the highest combined age of any 12 living siblings.

Doreen’s brothers and sisters are Patrick, 95, Genevieve, 93, Joyce, 91, Ronnie, 90, Beryl, 88, Joe, 86, Francesca, 84, Althea, 82, Teresa, 80, Rosemarie, 77, and baby of the family Eugenia, who is 75.

The huge brood were born to Michael and Cecilia D’Cruz in Karachi, Pakistan. They now live across the US, Canada and Switzerland, and were last together in person in 2018.

Doreen, who lives in Sudbury, Canada, says she and her siblings avail of modern technology to see one another regularly.

She explained: ‘(We’re) very, very close. We all say the rosary together every day on Zoom. We FaceTime each other often as well.’

The siblings have 33 children, and scores of grandkids as well as great-grandkids between them. Doreeen herself has 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, CBC reported.

The world’s oldest living individual is Kane Tanaka from Japan, who is 117 years-old.
