Ex-New York governor Andrew Cuomo charged over alleged groping of former aide

Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has been charged with a misdemeanor sex-crime complaint in Albany, the state’s capital, a courts spokesperson said Thursday.

Cuomo resigned from office, which he held for over 10 years, in August following a probe that found he had sexually harassed 11 women.

New York Attorney General Letitia James said that the five-month-long independent investigation concluded that Cuomo had engaged in conduct that violated federal and state laws.

‘As this is a sex crime, a redacted complaint will be available shortly,’ New York courts spokesman Lucian Chalfen said in a statement.

Spokespeople for Cuomo were not immediately reached.

Some raised questions over the complaint, including the Times Union, a local newspaper to Albany.

The paper reported that the complaint was filed erroneously, saying the summons was issued without the consent of the alleged victim, Brittany Commisso, or her attorney, Brian D. Premo.
