Elderly customer punched by Wendy's worker dies days after complain about order
A Wendy’s customer has died 10 days after he was sucker punched by a worker at the fast food chain when he complained about his order.
The 67-year-old victim was fighting for his life after Wendy’s employee Antoine Kendrick, 35, hit him in the head as he started to lick a Frosty on July 26.
Surveillance footage from the Arizona restaurant showed Kendrick taking the elderly man’s order, before walking around the register and knocking him as he appeared hunched over and unaware. The victim hit his head and was unconscious, police said.
The customer died on August 5, Prescott Valley police said on Monday evening. His identity has not been released.
He was in critical condition since being airlifted to a hospital in the valley.
Kendrick has been charged with second-degree murder.
The footage showed Kendrick looking at the customer lying on the ground, then walking behind the counter, taking some items and leaving the scene.
‘A customer complained about his food order at which time, the employee, Antoine Kendrick, came out from behind the service counter and struck the customer in the head,’ police stated earlier.
Other customers in the restaurant watched in horror.
‘That was a Mike Tyson hit,’ a customer told AZ Family. ‘The customer didn’t touch him, so he had no right to touch the customer, period, end of story. I just think that’s horrible and wish it didn’t happen. It puts a bad light on our entire society.’
Kendrick was arrested and initially charged with aggravated assault.
