Donald Trump under fire for ‘calling Melania over by tapping on his leg’

Donald Trump came under fire yesterday after footage emerged of him appearing to summon his wife over by tapping his leg.

The video of the US president's visit in Dayton, Ohio, on August 7, three days after the El Paso shooting, appears to show Trump looking in the First Lady's direction and tapping his right leg three times.

Moments later, Melania Trump is seen walking over to him.

However, the clip also shows vice president Mike Pence getting out of a black car as Trump stands by when they arrived Dayton.

It is believed that the seven-second clip has originally posted by Twitter user Matt Dinan and later shared by comedy writer James Felton, according to Newsweek .

Many web users have interpreted Trump's motion was to call Melania over like an animal.

James wrote as he shared the video: " Donald Trump : 'Nobody respects women more than me.'

"Also Donald Trump: 'Here girl, come here girl!' [pats leg] 'come here wife, there's a good girl."

One user posted with a quote said by Trump in 1992: "Women, you have to treat them like sh*t."

Some web users tried to defend Trump's move as one pointed that 'he's not even looking at her' and suggested that Trump was actually 'signalling the secret service'.

Another said: "It just looked like he was sending her a signal meaning let's move forward. Nothing wrong with that…right?"

This is not the first time Trump has been slated over his apparent treatment of wife Melania.
