Donald Trump 'may snub Biden's inauguration for trip to Scottish golf course'

Donald Trump could snub Joe Biden’s presidential inauguration for a trip to Scotland, according to recently-filed flight logs. Prestwick Airport near Glasgow has been told to prepare for the arrival of a US military Boeing 757 on January 19 – the day before President-elect Biden takes over.

It is still unclear who will be aboard the plane, although President Trump has himself traveled on the plane before, and flies into Prestwick Airport when visiting his Trump Turnberry golf resort about 15 miles away.

The president has yet to comment on whether he will attend Biden’s January 20 inauguration, and continues to try to overturn the election result. That has led to speculation he will avoid the inauguration altogether, and potentially even announce a 2024 White House run while Biden is being sworn-in.

A source told The Herald: ‘There is a booking for an American military version of the Boeing 757 on January 19, the day before the inauguration.  That’s one that’s normally used by the vice-president but often used by the first lady.

‘Presidential flights tend to get booked far in advance, because of the work that has to be done around it.’

Trump’s bitterness at Biden’s win was highlighted again on Saturday, when he called Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and asked if Raffensperger could ‘find’ more votes to overturn that state’s win for Biden.

Raffensperger refused to do so, and subsequently leaked Trump’s call, which has seen the president accused of breaking the law.

Biden won November’s election comfortably, and his win is due to be certified in the US Congress on Tuesday.

But numerous Trump-supporting representatives and senators have vowed to object during the process, triggering a debate which could delay the largely ceremonial event by several hours.
