Dog the Bounty Hunter's pursuit of Brian Laundrie is 'publicity stunt': daughter

One of Dog the Bounty Hunter’s daughters has criticized his manhunt of Gabby Petito’s fiancé Brian Laundrie, saying he should ‘back off and let the FBI handle it’.

‘It’s just a publicity stunt. That’s really what it is,’ 28-year-old Cecily Chapman told The Sun of her estranged dad, Duane Chapman, 68, and his highly publicized pursuit of Laundrie.

Petito was found dead in Bridger Teton National Forest in Wyoming on September 19 after a road trip with Laundrie, who he returned home without her. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Duane’s adopted daughter raised concerns over how he is financing the high-profile hunt for Laundrie and questioned who would pay for this ‘nonsense’.

Cecily also said her father has been looking for a new reality TV series.

The search for Laundrie reminded Cecily of how her father first captured the spotlight during his search for Max Factor heir, Andrew Lester, whom he found in Mexico. However, she insisted he was in his current pursuit for the wrong reasons.

‘A real network would be aware of the situation and I’m pretty sure everyone knows that this is a  f***ing publicity stunt,’ she said, adding she didn’t believe he would be able to find the fugitive before the FBI.

‘The FBI is never going to let Dog the Bounty Hunter catch Brian anyway – the FBI is way too prideful for that,’ she said.

Cecily also took aim at some of the revelations her father has made during his manhunt.

‘What, you found a Monster Energy can? What does that do for anyone?’ she asked.

His daughter also said some of the footage of Duane trekking through swampy water ‘looks totally staged’.

Cecily and her sister Bonnie, 22, have been vocal with their criticisms of him.

Recently, they were not invited to the TV personality’s wedding to Francie Frane in September.

Bonnie has also accused the realty star of racism and homophobia, as well as cheating on their late mother, Beth, according to the New York Post.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Duane revealed that he previously used the N-word, and defended its use.

Cecily said she also wonders if her father is trying to gather footage during his search for Laundrie for a new show for himself. Thinkfactory Media, are currently shopping a new reality series starring him, Variety reported.

Meanwhile, another one of Duane’s daughters, Lyssa, 34, has been by his side throughout the Laundrie search, helping him sort through the thousands of tips they receive daily.
