DNA shows teenager is not missing Timmothy Pitzen, FBI says
Investigators in the US have said that a boy claiming to have been kidnapped eight years ago is not missing Timmothy Pitzen.
The 14-year-old boy’s DNA does not match that of the boy who vanished in Wisconsin during a trip with his mother in 2011.
Timmothy was six years old when his mother Amy Fry-Pitzen took him from school in Aurora, Illinois, and travelled to a zoo and water park in the neighbouring state.
Two day’s later, the boy’s mother was found dead in a hotel room in Rockford, Illinois. Reports at the time said she had checked in alone and written a cryptic note that said her son was safe, but adding: “You’ll never find him.”
Timmothy has not been seen since.
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, the 14-year-old boy was found walking alone in Newport, Kentucky – around 500 miles from where Timmothy went missing.
He told authorities he had escaped kidnappers and “kept running across a bridge” into Kentucky.
